So, it's that time of year again.
Acorn Wars.
This was not the worst year ever, but close to it. I tried valiantly to find someone to come and rake them, but it never worked out. That is discouraging to say the least. This morning, when the last person on my list said they were actually out of town today and unavailable, I looked at the weather and decided it was now or never.
I hauled my reluctant self out there and made a plan.
The leaves really weren't the problem... it's what's under them.

These things are EVERYWHERE.

And there's a whole 'nother area between the yard and the garden that is even worse. It's like walking on marbles all over the yard.
I decided to run the mower over the lawn part of the project to pick up as many leaves as I could, so I didn't have to rake so many. That worked pretty well.
Then I started in and made a lot of small piles. At one point, Mr. P. took pity on me and came out to help. God bless him.

It was a beautiful day. That was in our favor.
This is the finished part:

(Umm... what's with the line of leaves there on the right? Doesn't that bother you?)
The prevailing winds are going to blow all those up against the chicken fence without any effort on my part. That's a future me problem. Thanks SO much for bringing it up. 🙄
This is only 1/3 of what I need to do to get rid of the acorn roller ball situation in the yard. I am going to wait a while I think for the leaves to blow off the areas directly under the oak trees and near the garden so I only have to deal with the acorns. It goes against my upbringing to wait to finish the job. But my body is already screaming at me that I have overdone it in the most imprudent fashion and I'll be paying for it. Big time.
However.
I am glad I am still able to do this much. Though without Mr. P, it might have proved my undoing.
But for now?
Victory.
