Shrek Trek
Tue Jun 01 2004

We went to see Shrek II this afternoon.

It was such a lot of fun. We laughed so much! They did a wonderful job.
We recommend it with enthusiasm.

But.....

(There's always something with you isn't there?)

Yep.

We had to pay $9.25 to see this movie...... each. Aaakkkk!
I think that is ridiculous. And it's going to be ridiculous several more times this summer, because Harry Potter is coming, and Spiderman too.... whatever shall we do?

And guess what? We went to Java City to wait for the movie to start, and I actually got to GET something there. I had Chamomile tea! I don't drink coffee, so this was my first real trip to a place like this, and I had my OWN thing to drink! :-) I felt so grown up!

Anyway, I hope you get a chance to see Shrek, and I hope you don't have to pay $9.25 to do it...Really, really.

We have gotten in the habit of only going to see movies before 6 so we can get the matinee prices. Also, we only go to movies where we can get a military discount, which is an additional 50 cents off the matinee price. The five of us can get into the movie for $32.50 total. Pricey, but better than the $42.50 if we go after 6!

We saw Shrek yesterday. The kids decided their favorite part was when Puss in Boots wanted to shave Donkey.

Thanks for recommending Shrek 2. As far as soaking the oats overnight, yes. Soaking makes them quicker to cook the next morning and thicker, more creamy tasting. These are the proper oats, not the quick cook types available. Tastes much better that way. ;-)

It's starting to make sense to wait for the DVD's unless it is something that is really enhanced by the Big Screen experience. I'm glad I saw Lord of the Rings in the movie theater, but Shrek and Spidey may have to wait until I can rent them. I just can't afford to feed the movie addiction at full price any more.

We're waiting for the DVD more and more these days. We go to the cinema if it's something special (like LOTR), or if we feel like a date, but for other movies the DVD library is a bargain: $5/movie for a week, or three for $10. And two can watch for the price of one! Normal cinema tickets are c. $12 here now (NZ$, but that's what I've got).

Shrek opens here in two weeks. I'm looking forward to it.
