If you could see me
for real
and not this ridiculous
photo of me,
I would be sitting in a
darkened room
dampening my forehead
with Eau de Cologne.
It has been a very eventful few days.
Even for me.
I usually enjoy hustle and bustle.
But I'm fair done in.
I'll let She Who Must Not Be Named
fill in the details.
Send me up a mint julep will you?
Ta-ta.
The hen gave out on me. I can't believe it. The little slacker.
Two of my sons and their wives came down for a four day visit. We had a nice time together doing all the things I wish we could do more often.
One day the boys went off with Hub Man and shot guns at targets. The girls came with me to IKEA, as one of them had never been. Purchases were made. :-)
There was a yarn store foray, a knitting refresher course, and we watched movies together and did some rather in depth analysis of M. Night Shamalyan's directing style.
At 8 this morning I took one couple to the airport, and the other couple left in their car. I came home and got a few things together and headed right back out to the vet down the road to collect our newest Sheltie. He has had his family jewels ... ummm... altered, shall we say. He seems none the worse for wear.
Before you take a look at him, I must tell you a little bit about him... He was surrendered to us as one of four dogs in a household. He was a totally outside dog. Ergo, he is not housebroken. I'm told he was covered in ticks and infested with fleas. His fur was terribly matted and a lot had to be cut off as it was beyond saving. This is particularly sad in Shelties, as their coat is their most lovely feature. So the poor guy looks pretty bedraggled and forlorn in that department.
Meet 'Pal'.
Tick, flea, fur assets, and family jewel free.....

Here he is drinking sprinkler water instead of perfectly good water in the dog bowl.

I don't know if this says anything about his personality or not.
Time will tell.
So far we are getting along fine. Though he was less than delighted to see Sunny at first, I am hoping for better relations as the days go by. He does like people however and will happily put his paws in your lap. Right now I have him tethered to my computer chair as I don't trust him to wander the house unsupervised. He already tried to hoist a leg on Fiona's little cat tower. He didn't even smell it or look at it really, he just noticed a vertical object nearby.
Needless to say, I have my work cut out for me in the housetraining department.
So there you have it.
The absolute latest.
Forget the mint julep, I'll have a Green Tea Gingerale. [A recent discovery]
