Background Changed, film at Eleven
Fri Jun 06 2003

DON'T PANIC ! You are in the right place. I decided to change my background.
Everything is just fine :-)

I’m full of energy today. I’m not sure why.

(Perhaps it’s because you don’t have to read THAT BOOK any more)

Good point.

Maybe it’s because of the cool night we had. We slept with the windows open and there must be something good about sleeping in a cool room all night. But unfortunately the motivation to do anything specific with this energy didn’t come with the package. So while my body is ready to “go for it”, my psyche is having an endless philosophical debate about what activity is worthy of this excess get up and go. And being the compulsive writer I have turned out to be, I’m out here in the patio swing scribbling at a mad pace between hopping up to go get a clothespin to pin the plaid sheet at an angle to block the morning sun and then racing back into the house for a pillow so I can slouch instead of sitting properly. And right now, I can feel the urge to throw down my pen and go see if any more blackberries are ripe today.

Just a minute.

Found four. Et ‘em on the spot.

The pink hollyhocks are blooming now. They aren’t as tall this year, but I like them just fine. Yesterday I pulled up a whole forest of Statice and spent Poppies and planted some butternut squash seeds. The first gladiolus are blooming. They happen to be red ones.

Wait a minute.

I just got up and pulled this sheet down over half of the swing.

I have hooked it over the edge of my notebook. Now I have a tent.
The sun is blasting down here right now, but I don’t feel like sitting around in the house.

I don’t feel like cleaning the house either. I could WRITE about it, but I’m not going to do it. Not today.

But just wait, in a day or two I will get up in the morning and start cleaning like a madwoman. I have been down THIS road before !

Okay, I can’t stand the sun any more, and I have to get up and put some clothes in the dryer. I think I will go re-arrange a cupboard or something useful. Or perhaps write a few more pages of my n . . . very short story.

Or maybe not.

"One of those days" is it? If it means anything to you, I think you did a grand job of diddling away a perfectly good day for diddling.
