Aurora October 10

Because the solar storm was in full swing again last night, I toodled out to the river to see what I might see.

Last night, you could see the red/pink glow with the naked eye. Not as dramatic as these photos,\, which were taken with a three second exposure, but I could see clearly that something was going on in the sky. And even with the moon shining too, I got a few good pictures. And just for the record, I did not adjust these images at all. Click on them to enlarge.

This last one was taken from my front yard, looking East.... I think I like this one the best.

As time goes on, we will see more and more of these as the solar maximum continues and our magnetic field weakens more.

It's pretty humbling to be outdoors late at night seeing such amazing sights. I hardly ever go out at night anymore. Thank goodness the weather is mild and it's pleasant out there.

God's creation is astounding.
