I have to admit it.
It looks like I am a simple artist.
Now if my maternal grandmother was uttering the above statement, it would mean that I am a 'special' artist with limited mental faculties, and we should make allowances for my less than brilliant achievements, because this would be the best I could do.
As in 'simple minded'. A phrase that in this day and age is politically incorrect.
But I've always sort of liked the way she used it. She never uttered it with malice.
Anyway, I have decided I love simple art.
Little things.
Naive.
Playful.
You know...
Simple.
Oh, I appreciate great ART. I really do. You know my love for Yerka...
But realistically, I will never be painting this kind of thing.
Anyway, it was a grounding and liberating [I know those two things seem contradictory, I can't help it] realization about watercolor for me. Oh, I want to learn more about how to use the paints, and other skills, but my subject matter I think will stay the same. Because I'm simple.
I've decided to embrace it.
I'm going to be all Zen about it.
