Simple
Fri Feb 08 2013

I have to admit it. It looks like I am a simple artist. Now if my maternal grandmother was uttering the above statement, it would mean that I am a 'special' artist with limited mental faculties, and we should make allowances for my less than brilliant achievements, because this would be the best I could do. As in 'simple minded'. A phrase that in this day and age is politically incorrect. But I've always sort of liked the way she used it. She never uttered it with malice. Anyway, I have decided I love simple art. Little things. Naive. Playful. You know...   Simple.   Copy Hen     Oh, I appreciate great ART. I really do. You know my love for Yerka...   c90b23fcc66b453b876cc83ebba7e646-1   But realistically, I will never be painting this kind of thing. Anyway, it was a grounding and liberating [I know those two things seem contradictory, I can't help it] realization about watercolor for me. Oh, I want to learn more about how to use the paints, and other skills, but my subject matter I think will stay the same. Because I'm simple. I've decided to embrace it. I'm going to be all Zen about it. (The rich and varied field of possible snappy comebacks to this post are so delicious, that I find myself stunned into silence by their sheer number.) For which we are all truly grateful I'm sure.

I reckon there's a lot to be said for simple. Your chicken paintings are beautiful in their simplicity - they convey a wonderful sense of peace. ^ ^ 00 =+= v
