I has cooled down here to something that could be considered pleasant.

What a relief.

We are sorting and tossing and straightening up around here today. It is astonishing to me how quickly stuff can pile up if you aren't looking for a few weeks.

I was going through a drawer with odds and ends of paper supplies and then another one with art supplies and realized it is really tough to let go of things that you have used half of, and think you MIGHT use in the future, but are not sure, and you end up keeping it. But at a certain point, the stuff starts to take over. At times I think the piles are trying to congeal into some critical mass blob that wants to crawl out of the ooze and walk upright. [Though that would only be a Golum, not a real man wouldn't it?]

I am also doing laundry and realized that there are some clothes that I should just throw out. They are not even fit to pass on to someone else. One day I need to really get ruthless. If that means I have to go get some new things to replace them, then that is what needs to be done. I think I am tired of wearing ratty clothes. It's noble to use it up, but it turns into something else when you have holes and bleach stains in and on clothes that you are wearing out in public.

See, one or two cool days that make me think fall is coming, and I start in with the "get ready for winter purge" syndrome.

I'm so predictable.

It's embarrassing.

i suppose one of the comforts of winter is that fact that you have the liberty of hiding that extra padding you tend to put on over the colder months. if autumn is coming to you then ack! i tend to find it a bit of a mental and food adjustment when all of a sudden i'm needing to bare more bits of my body due to the heat

    sez

p.s. re the lack of people writing, i guess you're right. to be honest i didn't entirely notice but yes, its steady at present as opposed to hectic around here!

Lol, I know you don't want to read this, but you sounded just like my mother using the word ruthless about getting rid of clothes. She says this all the time, yet she's one of the best turned out women I know. I'm sure your things aren't all that bad, but wouldn't it be liberating just to get rid of almost everything? ;-)

Everytime I go through the closet on a search for hangers I wonder how much longer am I going to hang onto my work scrubs. Nobody knows. Until I'm good and ready to realize I'm not going to work in a doctor's office again I guess.
