I Need a Vacation From This Hen
Mon Aug 20 2007

[album 65561 GoofyHen2.JPG]"Don't you just love harvest time?
Now that we have taken care of
the peaches, we are on to
things other people have given us!
There's no use whining about it.
Get that canner back out!"

    Mmmmm! Pears! Home grown?

I'll be happy to take any left over squash.

    Bless the day

Years ago I had a friend who made pear butter.

    Delicious!

Lucky you to have giving friends.

I love it when people share.
Hey. Need to get away from the hen?
Why don't you come up here for a visit?
    Heh, heh.
    Hugs!

Most canners insist in living in the open at this time of year. I believe it is to insure their metal health. Mine favors the back burner where it can see everything going on in the kitchen and yet still manage to be in my way. Canners are funny that way..... they crave attention almost as much as they crave heat.

I recommend giving it a place of honor and a kind word or two. This is especially true of the tempermental pressure variety. Water bath canners are a little easier to molify; just fill them with boiling water once in a while and they are quite content.

Oh yum, those pears will be lovely to eat when they're out of season, too. ;-)
