Rough Landing

I was trying to copy a watercolor I found on Pinterest.
I don't have the heart to show the original to you. It's too painful.
Mine is a pale imitation.
But still, it's a stretch for me. ... and I'm not ready to hand in my brushes just yet. Even though yesterday I was thinking that over as a distinct possibility.
Today I have come to my senses.
(Maybe you should stick to painting little hens with dots on them.)
Maybe you should get a hobby of your own.
(You ARE my hobby.)
O Lord, this would explain so many, many things....

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and someone somewhere would pay big bucks for that watercolor.

Landscapes are hard! I never got the hang of them back when I was attempting painting. But you are definitely on the way - there's aspects of that painting that are really good (like that fluffy white cloud in the lower part of the sky - I really like that).
One thing I remember from a painting class I took a million years ago was that when you're painting landscapes you can use colour to indicate perspective - the further away things are, the bluer they get. So if you make the colours in the foreground a bit warmer, and use slightly cooler colours in the background, it can give more depth to a landscape. I don't know how that would work in a landscape like this, where you've got autumnal trees in the distance, but it might be worth experimenting with.

I'm glad future cat gave you some constructive criticism because I thought it was an awesome picture of a forest fire... LOL. I like your sky, ominous. Keep working at it.

Anything you do is so much better than anything I could attempt, which makes me unable to understand any negativity you say about your work. :)
I think it is awesome.
Screw the original.
Tee, hee.
