InkJoy Pens
Fri Feb 03 2012

I have no idea why I am this way, but I have a pen and paper obsession. I'm always on the lookout for THE BEST PEN EVER. So when I saw that silly commercial for InkJoy pens, of course I had to get my hands on one. Turns out that was easier said than done. After searching several stores and coming up penless, I ordered some from Amazon. They came the other day... Overkill? I think not my hens and chickens. This was in the interest of SCIENCE. Were these good pens or not? I needed many test subjects. For comparison you see…. I set to and tried all the colors. I had stick pens [like the Bic Crystal, the workhorse of all pens.] And I bought some retractable pens too, just for the heck of it. Here's my test sheet... The colors are nice and intense. All but the orange I would deem useful. It's pretty hard to see. They feel nice in your hand. The stick pens are a rounded triangle shape that is easy on the hand. The retractable has a rubber grip and is okay. I prefer the stick one myself. They write very fast and 'slippy'. You don't have to press too hard, which is sometimes a problem with ball point pens. I really like them. But this will not stop me from continuing to look for THE BEST PEN EVER. The TRUE PEN is out there. I WANT to believe.   PS I DO notice that the dark green ink seems to be… gloppy. I'm not sure if that will continue, I mean to be fair, it was that pen's first words. But if it continues, that will be a problem….

There is no such thing as overkill when it comes to pens! NZ is sadly lacking in the really interesting stationery shops you have in America, so we don't have many choices - thank goodness for Amazon :-) My pen of choice at the moment is a fountain pen - not always the most practical writing instrument, but I love the way the nib glides over the paper. My other favourite pen at the moment (for writing on surfaces my fountain pen can't cope with) is one of those freebies various businesses are always giving you. I don't know why, but this particular one just writes really nicely. One day soon though it's going to run out of ink, and then the search will continue... ^ ^ 00 =+= v

I've seen the ads for these and I've been wondering about them. I agree, the colors are nice, except for the orange. But then, I have a rather intense dislike of that color since I ODed on baby aspirin when I was three. I'm obsessed with just the right "slippy" pen, too. Is there a reason you don't like the retractable pens as much? About a year ago I found a great pen that I just loved. It's an Office Max store brand pen, I think. I didn't get to use it up, it found legs and walked away from my desk. I'm determined to make it back there to get some more of them. When I find it, I'll let you know.

My favorite pen of all time is my slim PaperMate retractable. And wouldn't you know it, they don't make them anymore..... probably because they were so good they lasted too long. Mine is still going strong a good 15 years after purchase. I guard it carefully and never let it stray far. I'll probably will cry when it runs out of ink.
