Little Update
Thu May 29 2014

It's been chilly here for a few days. To the point where I built a morning fire to keep my goosebumps under control yesterday. I got a little carried away and I'm sure it was 90 degrees in my kitchen by 10 o'clock. I was cutting out a dress to sew and got so warm I ended up opening up the back door to cool things off. But soon, I was feeling the chill again, and had to close things up. Last night the weather was predicting a pretty cool night, maybe even frost,  so I got out several sheets and blankets and covered up my tomato plants. I was so worried that I ended up dreaming about losing them all and woke myself up in distress. Thankfully, in the cool light of morning, no such disaster befell them… or me… thank goodness. I've just tidied up in the chicken coop and run. There was a little too much poop in the walking areas, and I cleared off the poop board, which I now do about once every three days. It takes about 5 minutes. I use something called Stall Dry, which is sort of like cat litter only it's okay for the chickens. It absorbs moisture and odors and dries up the poop in a matter of hours. So we have a pretty clean and dry coop. I'm very happy about it. I don't know what the hens think about it. All I know is, the eggs just keep appearing in the nests and they seem happy to see me when I come to the gate. Of course it COULD have something to do with the fact that I'm usually carrying some delicacy or another. Sprouted wheat grass, sprouted lentils, some kind of greens, once in a while I give them some canned corn… you know, yummy chicken stuff. One day Ms. Ambercrombie totally forgot herself and jumped up on my lap in order to get closer to the sprouted lentils. I took a few photos of what's blooming right now in the yard. I think this is called pyracantha... sweet2   And my Dolce Wilhelm ... Otherwise known as Sweet William... sweet   I'm taking this picture just in case the   _ _ _ _ deer decide to eat it sometime soon. The pesky creatures.   lime wild

Glad you didn't lose any tomatoes. Wish I could say the same. *sigh*
