Home Alone
Sun Aug 17 2003

Hubby has been gone all day picking up a car he bought several hours from here. He left in the wee hours of the morning. So I have been “home alone” today.

I have spent the day doing just as I please. And it pleased me very much.
Very early, before the sun was up, I went for a long walk in the neighborhood and checked out the progress of some of the construction that is still going on.
It was cool and pleasant out, and so very quiet.

I came home and peeled and ate some white peaches that I bought at the store the other day…. They were, well, perfect in every way. And I have been reading and puttering and lounging around ever since. Surprisingly, no naps have been taken today. I guess I don’t want to miss any of my free time by sleeping it away..

I have also been making a mental list of things I want to write about. I need to get myself a little notebook and keep the list in there or something. So I will have something to draw from some winter day when I feel dull of mind.

Thank you to all of you who offered suggestions for indulging oneself. I am leaning toward buying one of those leather bound books. I will have to get the catalog out and begin the agonizing job of picking just one! I would like to buy a volume of poetry, but unfortunately they only come as a set of about a dozen I think. Bummer.

Well, off to raid the fridge and see what’s for dinner. It’s a jungle in there.
No matter how bright and cheery it looks when you open the door, as soon as you close it, that becomes a dark and mysterious place where anything can happen to your food. There are a couple of bowls back in the back that I don’t even recognize as belonging to us and I have no idea what is hidden in them, and doubt that whatever it is, is edible. But I will find something safe to eat I am sure.

Got any crackers in the pantry? They go well with a glass of icy cold milk.

I slept most of the day, and I'm about to go to my bed and sleep some more.

    Shalom!

I remember telling my husband when we were first dating not to eat anything in my fridge that was covered in tinfoil. I could not guarantee that it had not been in there for years and that it hadn't taken on a life of it's own.

I am very jealous of alone time. I have two weeks of delayed gratification waiting for my little bit of peacefulness. I cannot wait! Well . . . I can but I am counting the days. *smile*

Those white peaches sounded yum. I hope you both do get into the Bookcrossing fun. ;-)
