Fare Thee Well Master Roo
Wed Nov 05 2014

Today there was a change in the flock dynamics. Our young black and white 'baby' went to 'confer, converse, and otherwise hob nob with his fellow roosters'* on the farm where his egg was laid. Here they were this morning, all unaware of the impending kerfuffle... Flock november   flock2   He didn't go quietly, I'll tell you that much. But once he was in the basket with a lid on it, he calmed right down. He will most likely be put together with a hen who has three chicks of a very similar age. They were roaming out among the bushes near the house, and not in with the rest of the flock. He will have a MUCH larger area to roam than here in our run. G. thinks he has potential because he has very nicely feathered legs which is a nice thing in a Brahma chicken. So now we have a flock of six. And six is just enough for me. Maybe there will be less scuffling on the roost when it's time to go to bed. We'll see. *Wizrad of Oz reference.   lime-wild
