I would just like to make a public thank you to our fearless leader Steve, for adding the "On This Day' function to the Dashboard. For some of us, this is a very tangible reminder of our personal history kept here on Dear Diary.
As I was browsing those archives over the last few days, I ran across this picture I took in a chance moment when the light was just right. I had purchased this big blue bowl and was amazed at its beautiful color. But this magic of lighting and subject kind of blew me away at the time.... it still does.

This is the bowl as of a few minutes ago:

This may seem like an ignominious demotion from the more elegant kitchen assignments, but trust me, many a creature comes to this bowl every day to drink its clean, clear, cool waters.
Another photo I found from this time several years ago, was one of many taken that day down by the creek on a hot day. I was balancing rocks like a madwoman that summer. My dog Sunny always came with me.

She was supervising the day I balanced these stones and waited until they dried to take a photo....

There's another balance in the background if you can spot it.
Seeing this reminds me that I ought to be doing it again. But honestly, Sunny made me feel safe down there at the creek. The noise of the water drowns out any sound of animals that might be roaming around. [I used to see bear scat up there all the time.] So these days I don't go to the creek alone.
Anyway, thank you Steve for the simple function of seeing what I was doing years ago. And reminding me that I might revisit some of those things again.

I agree about that pic with the onions. Simply beautiful!
I lost a lot of my best photos when Open Diary shut down since they gave us no way to dowload our entries. I figured out a way to scrape the text from entries, but the pictures were lost forever. Lesson learned to have a backup, especially for those once-in-a-lifetime pictures.
We lost a LOT of photos on Dear Diary at one point mostly from a big infiltration of spam... years ago. All my really old photos from then in all my entries are gone. Steve has cordoned us off from that crazy now and I think things will be way more secure. What's funny is, once in a while in an old old entry, a photo will show up. It's so weird!
