No Frost on MY Pumpkins
Wed Oct 22 2003

I bushwhacked quite a bit in the garden today, and have been watering it ever since. I found another volunteer potato plant that was hiding under a tomato and a basil plant. I dug up some HUGE yukon gold potatoes. They are beautiful things. It looks a little more civilized back there now, but I have about 5 more days of work like that to get it finished. I am limited by the amount of cuttings I can fit into the green waste container that they come and get as part of the recycling in our county. But at least we have potatoes to eat tonight, and a handful of tomatoes too. Many others went to waste this summer though. :-( I uncovered a zuchinni plant that was supposed to have round zuchinnis. Well, they are there alright, but they are the size of small pumpkins and are even turning orange. Poor things. I am sure they are inedible now. But I will pick them later for decorations on the front porch.

I have yet to get to any of my creative projects. But I can feel that I am getting closer to the day when I will feel like I can work on something other than housework and yardwork. I even bought a little Halloween card today that has a little cat inside of a pumpkin that I thought I would try to copy. I just need to give myself permission to sit quietly for an hour or two and draw.
Seems like a big luxury at the moment.

I would like to bake some bread, but it has been so warm here in the daytime.
It can hardly be called October with such a heat wave going on. It sort of spoils the whole idea of baking. I keep looking on the weather site to see if there is a storm coming. They all seem to be going way north of us right now.
Sigh.

Okay, off to make dinner. Salmon patties and potatoes from the garden with tomatoes just for fun!

I never heard of round zucchini before.

You are having fun, and it's paying off. My mouth is watering.

    Shalom

All right, already! My mouth is watering!
You really know how to torture a person don't you?
I ended up at Quiet Evening's Diary and left a reply you might be interested in reading. Or not.
    See ya!
