Unidle Hands

Because I am incredibly lazy, and because I am really trying to get on with some housework today, I took a group picture of what I've been working on these last few weeks.

I'm starting to make friends with my camera too, and pictures are turning out more like I am expecting them as I get more used to the settings and how to use them.

So here you have it.

Roughly from left to right.... The pale gray bag is a wool sweater I found at Goodwill that I shrank and made into a bag. The little pouch used to be the hood of the sweater.

The little black bag with the multicolored top came from a pattern in one of those pattern a day collections that my friend D. bought for me. The red bag is something I made out of a lot of scrap yarn including a small ball of yarn that our friend J. spun on one of our spinning wheels one evening. I dyed it will koolaid. There's also some yarn that Hub Man spun in there too. I haven't made handles for it yet.
The blue thing that looks like a trilobite is something from a pattern called Calorimetry and is a head scarf. Boy was THAT fun to knit! I'm going to make more of those. Next to it is the one almost finished fingerless glove for my son's upcoming birthday. The white zig zag is where I am going to pick up stitches and knit a thumb.
And last but not least, is another bag made from a Goodwill sweater. Making those things is big time fun! I have already bought 3 more 100% wool ones to make some more bags with. It's almost instant gratification. There are some REALLY nice wool sweaters at second hand stores. Lots of people pass them by because they are hand wash or dry clean only.

Anyway, that's what I've been up to.

Now, I have a date with the vacuum and the washing machine. I did the fun chore of the day already and planted the last three tomato plants we got from WalMart last night. When I was out there, I noticed two volunteer tomato seedlings from last year. I hope they decide to go for it. I love volunteer plants. They're my favorites.

I got lucky and had about 10 volunteer grape yellow tomato plants come up last year which was fortunate as I couldn't find any of the plants to buy last year ;)

Cool bags you've got going there!

My, my, you've been busy! I've never heard of making a bag from a sweater before. Very clever of you!

We will not be doing any gardening here until late May. Any hopes of early planting were dashed this week by a very late snowfall.

Volunteer plants are great: self-selected for toughness.

    I love your woolly projects!

I love the little black bag. I think I might need that pattern. :o)

    I didn't get today's notify, but I didn't get most of Richard's either.
