My Phoebe Valentine

Yesterday, our Phoebe laid her very first first egg!
Here she is at 23 weeks old...
Looking lovely in her fox like colors...
And here is her first egg... the little one on the right.
Miss Lydia lays the biggest eggs right now.
While I was out taking pictures of the girls this morning, I caught something that has been happening quite a bit. I have noticed over the last several weeks, that Goldie is very attracted to Sunny. She often goes over to the fence and tries to get close to her. I have no idea what is going on in her little feathered brain, but she just seems to love Sunny.
I wish I could trust her to go in the chicken run with the girls. I would be very curious what Goldie would do if she had a little more access to Sunny.
She follows her around and tries to get her attention. Most of the time, Sunny is oblivious...
In a perfect world, they could be friends. But I think Sunny would have to have a drastic change in her DNA for that to happen.
Poor little Goldie will have to be content to admire Sunny through the chicken wire for the time being.

Can you put a leash on a chicken? Perhaps you should take Goldie on a field trip to your kitchen (hmm that could have a sinister tone) but I meant for them to hang out in a controlled environment. One of my neighbors down the street has chickens that hang out in the kitchen and when she goes outside they just follow her around and never veer off to far. Who knows, maybe Goldie can start living in the house, after all she is your favorite. Just think, eggs delivered to you :-)

Congrats little Phoebe on your very first egg!!
It has been recorded for all eternity. Not many chickens can say that.
How sweet that Goldie loves Sunny! Maybe someday they can meet up close and personal w/o the fence between them. Sweet lil' hen. :)

It will be forever known, now, as Egg-entine's Day!
