Prayer
Fri Aug 12 2005

I don't know how many of you are aware that the Israeli government is about to expell Jews from the Gaza in order to take another step along the so called "roadmap to peace". This expulsion has divided the country. I myself am dismayed that it is going forward.

A few days ago, there was a massive prayer service at the Western Wall. The estimates of the crowd vary from 250,000 to 300,000 people.

It's breaking my heart. I thought when Netanyahu resigned from the cabinet, others might follow, but it didn't happen.

We know that Sharon isn't a religious Jew, and obviously doesn't know, or doesn't care, what the Torah says about the Land. And he's obviously, also, forgotten history. Appeasement doesn't work. Never has. Never will. And that abominable Road Map certainly hasn't worked.

Oh, yes, How long, O Lord!

I have a postal card on my refrigerator. Shows a young man (maybe a soldier), wearing Tefillin, with his head bowed on his arms: Master-of-the-Universe I beg You, please send Mashiach Now!

    It makes me weep.

    Shalom

Good to see an opinion other than the usual, and enlightening. Thanks for posting.

    PS Your mini-vacation sounded great!

I'm of two minds about this. Like everyone I want to see peace in that region, and after so many years it is evident that the people who live there can't do so. Were I living there, I would likely resist also. But looking at the big picture I can only hope that it does indeed lead to fewer conflicts in the future.

You think they would have learned 60 years ago when they did this that it isn't necessarily a good solution.
