Big Water

Well, we are having some excitement around here...
It rained all night long and is raining still. This, added to the fact that the ground is already saturated made for a little surprise this morning.
The pond is... UP.
That blob of black just this side of the submerged tree was the spot Mr. P and I thought the water would get to.
Looks like we BOTH would have lost the bet!
Here are a few more views ...
The water is actually running over the dam. This is the first time that has happened since I have lived here...
The hens were huddled in their shelter, glad of even a small dry spot that was NOT in the coop. :-)
I'm really glad I went the extra mile for this part of the chicken project. It has turned out to be very useful. First as a chick nursery, now as a good place for them to stay dry in bad weather.
Here's the rock balancing spot with its lakefront view...
I took two videos of the two places the water is coming into the pond. One from the neighbor's property, and the other is the gully on Mr. P's side of the line:

With the water running like this, no wonder it filled up so fast!
And finally, here is Sunny, mildly bemused by all the changes...
The rain was pouring down the whole time we were out.
Your roving reporter got soaked and so did Sunny.
Maybe I can get a job with The Weather Channel.
What do you think??
Heh heh...

That's a lot of water! Glad the chickens have got somewhere dry to hang out :-)
I was talking to a woman last night who has 12 chickens. She said that 12 is "possibly too many" :-)

That's a lot of water! Glad to see you're chickens are enjoying their shelter :)
Quick question - how do you change your profile picture? Hope you don't mind me asking!

Thank you for posting these! Wow!

Great you have water! Just hope it only raises so far and stops. Tom said Shasta is filling at 50,000 cfs (that was earlier today) Now if he can just convince certain people not to drain everything dry for almond trees and to clean out the salinity we will be fine.
It would be better if there was some snow too, but water will do for now.

Wow!!! Lucky you didn't get flooded out!
Still hoping for more snowpack in the mountains.
