Yesterday I had to re-plant almost all my tomatoes because for some reason my little seedlings are mostly croaking. They got very spindly even though they were out in the sun quite a bit. I felt so bad watching them keel over one by one.
But then I remembered even God had to start over a few times to get creation in just the right balance. (according to Jewish tradition). So I figured if God could start over with the whole she-bang, I could poke a few more tomato seeds in their containers, and not whine about it too much.
Out in the back yard we have a porch swing. It's very nice, but has no shade cover. The other day I wanted to sit out there and needed something keep the sun off me. I rumaged in the closet and found a threadbare flannel sheet that we can't use on the bed anymore. So I fixed it to the swing. It looks kind of funny in the breeze. It's a fitted sheet and it billows out like a sail on a ship. Only thing, it's a red Stewart plaid. Looks like a gypsy ship. But for now it's doing it's job. We just don't HAVE a MARTHA Stewart backyard, plaid or no. Although it's just possible that Rachel Ashwell might consider it shabby chic. I think I might have to glue on a couple of cherubs with vases of yellow roses in order to qualify. But even *I* have my decorating limits....

Well, y'know, whatever works is fine. Martha may not approve, but who cares what Martha thinks. She's not the one sitting in the swing with nothing over her head.
Stewart plaid huh? I like it!
