Whose Streets Are You Marching In?

As usual, Charles Krauthammer articulates my thoughts on this subject so much clearer than I could at this moment.

Read on.

I read it =*(

Is Mr.Krauthammer under the impression there is no slavery in the USA?
The colors may have changed from black to yellow and brown but it's still here.

Maybe people are too far removed from the world of farm produce and the textile industry.

LOL@the word honkey, I've never heard that word applied.

Somebody has been reading somebody's mind.

All citizens, no matter what color, and all *legal* immigrants, no matter from where, should have the same rights.

But illegals demanding rights is going a little too far, in my mind.

We have that problem here in Australia too, but not to the extent that you have. I think it's ridiculous that people can just hop on a boat and come here and claim benefits, etc. and it's not fair to people who have applied to be a citizen and come here and get a job and pay taxes, along with the rest of us who were born here. Send them back where they come from, I say. If we're not good enough for them to become citizens, we shouldn't have to pay them our own money.

I will share whatever I have (as a country), as long as you come here legally. That's all I ask.

Good article. Thanks for sharing.

This particular subject has had me steamed all week. I have no sympathy for those who choose the path of illegal entry. That they dare march in our streets waving another nation's flag adds insult to injury and shows me exactly who and what they are; invaders not immigrants. They need to leave....sooner would be better than later.

Very well said! The whole thing for me is . . . *ILLEGAL* aliens. They did not come here legally, they do not have rights! I'm all for immigration when it's done legally. But there are too many citizens without jobs, without healthcare and proper education and the laws regarding immigration are there for a reason. I just can't get over someone who came here illegally saying they have the same rights as American citizens.

Ditto, ditto, and ditto...

I deal with, on a DAILY basis, the AFTERMATH that is suffered by American Citizens whose Social Security Numbers are "borrowed" by people coming here illegally. Granted, it is NOT Identity Theft in terms of credit reports and credit card debt, and the like, but it still creates HUGE problems with Law-Abiding American Citizens who file tax returns every year. While I am sympathetic to the desire to live and work in the best country in the world, you really should NOT be doing it in a manner that VERY, VERY ADVERSELY impacts the people who live here and work here LEGALLY. I realize that many of these illegals don't understand the HUGE problems they are creating for the people whose SSNs they "borrow," but it's a huge problem nonethless and it VICTIMIZES innocent people. I'm sorry that life in Mexico sucks, but don't ABUSE Americans as a solution to that problem...

For a moment I thought this was another quiz...ha ha ha

But no, far more controversial than that! Definately worth a good read, some good points made - really gets you thinking about where you stand on the issue in your own country :o)
