I opened the doors and a window or two and turned off the heater.
Soon the house smelled of fresh clean air. Granted, I had to wear a sweater, but it was all very pleasant out. I wandered about the yard looking at this and that and wondered what plants to add this season when I came upon my rather impressive pile of peach tree trimmings that I haven't been able to send to the green waste bin yet as it is still full of leaves that I raked up several days ago.
An idea struck me.
Because I so admire and want to emulate Andy Goldsworthy I got out my clippers and gathered enough peach tree twigs to make this:

"Peach Twigs In The Manner Of Andy Goldsworthy"

I am rather fond of it too. I struggled for quite some time at the beginning with different numbers of twigs held together by weaving. No dice. I made three false starts and almost gave it up. But the sun was warm, it was nice to be outside. I perservered. I have watched Mr. Goldsworthy on a PBS show doing his art, and sometimes he too has to start over many times before things stay together. I figured if he could do it, so could I.
I figure one of the main things that stands in the way of achieving something worthwhile is a tendency to give up too soon. I got the thing to work by tieing four sticks together like a tic tac toe drawing. That was the secret if you ever want to give it a go.
It is still rather fragile, which much of his art is, but I tacked mine up on the back fence to admire for as long as it decides to hang together.
It was a good afternoon's work.
And I can now claim I share some small part of Andy Goldsworthy's genius. . .
Stubborness.
