Imaginary Knitting

Not long ago, I had an idea for a felted bag. I got out my design book and made a little drawing. An innocent little drawing. Turns out you better be careful what you aim for. Drawing   I found some orange yarn in my stash and cast on. At a certain point almost halfway through, I realized I was going to run out of yarn. So I frogged it and started over. Made some adjustments and knitted until I ran out of yarn. Turns out I should have frogged again, because I didn't have enough yarn to get the shape I wanted. But it SORT of was in the ball park. orange and purple   Cute bag. But not what I was really hoping for. Not to be deterred, I decided to try again. Much math ensued. I don't like math. But there was math between me and my little drawing. … so I did my math. Cast on again. Knitted until I ran out of pink. Here's the result: Pretty in Pink   Oh my. We loves it, we do. The button…. oh, the button!  I have been saving that button for a long time. This was it's best destiny. But it still isn't quite the shape I wanted. I'm trying to decided if I AM going to be deterred from my mind's eye project. I think I have learned something. Just because I can draw it, doesn't mean I can knit it. At least not yet.   lime wild

Well, it's not like the bags you are turning out are dog dung. Me loves this one, too!! I say give it as many tries as it takes. What do you have to lose?

Shoot for the moon, even if you miss it you will still land among the stars :) Seems pretty accurate to this situation no? You may not have achieved what you intended but you still made something adorable. do you have any idea how many awesome inventions today were actually the offshoots of something else that went 'wrong'?
