Not long ago, I had an idea for a felted bag.
I got out my design book and made a little drawing. An innocent little drawing.
Turns out you better be careful what you aim for.
I found some orange yarn in my stash and cast on.
At a certain point almost halfway through, I realized I was going to run out of yarn. So I frogged it and started over. Made some adjustments and knitted until I ran out of yarn. Turns out I should have frogged again, because I didn't have enough yarn to get the shape I wanted. But it SORT of was in the ball park.
Cute bag. But not what I was really hoping for.
Not to be deterred, I decided to try again. Much math ensued. I don't like math. But there was math between me and my little drawing. … so I did my math.
Cast on again. Knitted until I ran out of pink.
Here's the result:
Oh my. We loves it, we do. The button…. oh, the button! I have been saving that button for a long time. This was it's best destiny.
But it still isn't quite the shape I wanted.
I'm trying to decided if I AM going to be deterred from my mind's eye project.
I think I have learned something.
Just because I can draw it, doesn't mean I can knit it.
At least not yet.
