To Couch or Not to Couch, That is the Question
Mon Sep 22 2003

Hubby and I schlepped over to Levitz today (on a VERY hot afternoon by the way) to get a look at the couch I think I want up close and personal. It was in the paper today on sale for about 400.00 less than on the internet site I checked. Oy. This makes it harder.
Anyway, it's nice, I LIKE it (or them because the couch and love seat come together on sale.) But they are kind of light colored.... makes me nervous about them showing the dirt.... But they are nice, very nice, and not TOO expensive...
Here's a picture. Of course we are only looking at getting the couch and love seat, not the rest of the room....!

So what's the problem?
Well, for one thing, I don't spend that kind of money every day, and I sort of have to work myself up to it! They are on sale till October 1. Eeek!

No guts, no glory?

Or buyer beware?

You know, it always seems like it would be easy to spend money when you don't have it, but when you have worked hard and almost lost your mind all summer to save up for something, it is not that easy to plop that old check down on the counter....

Sigh.... SUCH a problem, you say.... Yeah, I am a real putz... what can I say?

i think you're being wise in being so cautious
i, too, take ages to make decisions when it comes to anything related to spending large sums of money (the fireplace took me 2 winters to finally decide!) but i'm sure the right decision will crystalise for you the more you ponder and think about it

I don't think you have a frivolous bone in your body, but you've been wanting a new sofa for ever so long. Isn't that why you accepted the extra weeks of work? So you could buy a new sofa?

The set is very attractive, and you deserve it! This is something that will last next to forever, and the way you keep house you shouldn't give it another thought if it's the color you want.

Just think, you don't have kids plunking themselves down on the furniture, and putting their shoes up on the upholstery--so bite the bullet and SPEND!!!

    Shalom

As the bad angel voice I urge you to buy, buy, buy! They're really nice colours and they are on sale, plus it's something tangible to make up for all the time you've spent away from home.

    Hi, Yetzirah,

RYC: Truman put up a Guestbook (just for you! Well, no not really; he was thinking about it before and I mentioned your comment, so he did it today) and welcomes all input.

RY couch: Go for it! If it's Scotch-guarded it's easy to clean.

And thanks for the nice comment on my entry.

I say spend spend spend, spending is only frivolous if it's something you're going to use once or twice then leave in the back of a cupboard for years but something you use and enjoy every day is worth any ammount of money.
