As I mentioned, I went to the mall with my daughter-in-law while I was visiting. We went to the famous Powell's Bookstore. Here she is headed to her favorite place... where the books are.... 😅

In the old days, she would be described as 'a bookish female'. Which I think was a bit derogatory at the time. According to the history of the word as used in the 18th century it was put thusly: 'an unfeminine excess of intellect'.
I'm glad we have moved on from that kind of thinking.
Besides, her very bookishness is one area where we have a veritable Vulcan Mind Meld. One time when they had come to visit me and we were saying goodbye to each other I said, "Thank you for coming, so we could use our big words!"
My brother used to chide me about it and often told me to 'speak English' if I let my vocabulary stray too far from the familiar. 🤣 But I never took umbrage because he can out math me any day of the week. I have the words, he has the numbers.
So, while in the store, I was perusing the Judaica shelves and found a book I thought a friend might like. Out came the phone and I took a photo which I promptly sent off in a text message. . . all the way to Texas. Whut? It struck me how incredible it is to be able to do such a thing. After a while my friend answered and sure enough, she wanted the book. I mailed it off yesterday.
Anybody remember the Pony Express? It wasn't THAT long ago in the grand scheme of things. We live in miraculous times.
