It's that time of year again. Wood delivery has begun.

I have a good neighbor who lives right across the road who is thinning his woods all the time. It's an easy trip to my house with his trailer.

Last year I thought I'd try to get by on three loads, but I ran out of wood toward the end of the season and Mr. P gave me two wheelbarrows of wood to tide me over, bless him. I decided I wouldn't put myself in that position again. So, God willing there will be three more loads like this coming in the next several weeks:

This is after stacking the first wood in the shed.

Here is that day's work:

Today I worked on it again. Here's the progress:

And the pile looks like this now:

I am documenting this because it's part of the rhythm of the homestead, and I'm also wanting to put it here to remind myself that I'm grateful that I can still do this kind of work. Even though it's going to take me four or five days to do it. I only do so many cartloads a day. I have discovered a little trick too.

I work until I think... okay... I'm done. Then I do what I call a 'push' load. One more than I want to. Just to show myself it can be done. 🤣

I only work out there in the shade and cool of the morning, as I am prone to overheating. It runs in the family. And I have learned to respect it.

Do you ever use the 'push' technique?

(All the time.)

I'd have to agree. Except you push ME. Not yourself.

(That's the way this relationship works.)

I've noticed. 🙄
