What IS that THING in the Creek?

I discovered a good place to go for a walk in my neck of the prairie.

All around the outskirts of our neighborhood are grasslands and a couple of drainage creeks. And there is a sort of firebreak road that they graded around the subdivision too. I can walk on it and then to the creek and follow it all around the place. It was nice to get out into the fields. I scared a pair of mallards out of a deep spot in the creek. From the look of things, nobody walks out there at all, which is surprising because it is so close.

There are cottonwoods growing along the water and live oak and there are lots of cattails too, but they are not growing yet. Just the masses of last years growth all brown and flattened over by rain and wind.

Just as I was about to climb up onto the road again, I noticed something odd in the middle of the creek. It was white and looked like it had fur or feathers. At first I thought for sure it was a dead swan, then I thought no, it’s a dead dog (really) and the shape was so odd though, I could not make it out. And anything that big would surely smell bad. I walked closer, curiosity getting the better of my revulsion and after several seconds of scrutiny discovered that it was a huge white stuffed bear!
Thank goodness it wasn’t a real animal! I wonder how someone’s stuffed animal got into that creek?

When I got home, I spent some time on DD figuring out how to upload graphics. After a couple of emails to Support, I got it straight and posted a few. I don’t think they will be available for a little while as they say they have to approve them first. I’ll keep checking. It sure was fun!

Well, that is about the extent of my adventures for today.

Hope your team won the Superbowl. I don’t even know who’s playing!
How un-American of me!

I know who is playing but we're not watching. I don't think Rick knows.

Have a great evening!

Yay Superbowl! Go Cowboys! Of course the fact that they aren't playing probably will eliminate them from the possibility of winning!

I am constantly amazed at the way our eyes do that. I'm also glad it turned out to be as harmless as a stuffed bear. The place sounds great for walking around. ;-)

The Patriots won. Which will make my grandson very happy. I didn't watch the game, either; I just saw the score when I logged in here.

Keep me in mind when the cattails "bloom." Did you ever make designs on them? Sounds like a lovely walk, but someone is missing a cuddle toy. Tch.

The strangest things turn up in the bush!

Football season is *finally* over for another season.

What we need is a four-week long "No Sports Season" to give us non-afficianados some relief, albeit a brief respite, from having to listen to the sports nuts at lunch.

I think it's great that you gave your boys little exercises to keep their minds fresh. Thank God it wasn't a real animal in the creek, although there is something just as poignant about a stuffed toy.

Hugs
