There's a rainstorm headed our way and I'm very excited about it!
Rain, after our recent woeful lack of it, is always welcome.
The sky is pewter and the wind has already begun to blow. But we don't expect rain till nightfall.
I rather like the lighting outside and decided to go get a few pictures.
In the corner of Sunny's outdoor pen by the chicken yard I have fenced off an area to grow plants that the deer would mow down in a heartbeat if they could. Three years ago I planted some Hollyhock seeds there. Those plants have barely survived each summer and I despaired of ever seeing anything come of them. Well, this year they decided life was worth living and have put on buds.
I'm curious to see what color they are.
After I took this picture, I decided I would see if I could get one of Miss Lizzy.
That's WAY harder than you might think, as she is in constant motion. And I do mean constant.
Here's the best of about 14 shots....
Isn't her tail adorable?
Every night then I close up the coop, I make it a point to pick her up and talk to her for a few moments. I'm hoping she will be as tame and tolerant as the rest of the flock. It's a pretty peaceful little group of birds and I'd like to keep it that way.
Excuse me now, while I take a walk around the homestead and batten down the hatches before the storm arrives.
