Auction Haul and A Mystery Solved?

Well, the silent auction was really quite fun. They laid out 17 lots of yarn that had been sorted by color. We all wandered around and checked out everything and then one at a time the lots came due for closing. I had eyes for only one of them. It had a goodly amount of oatmeal colored tweedy yarn. One of my favorites. Only one other person was interested and she mainly wanted the knitting book that was included in the lot. That book had patterns in it WAY over my head! I made the final bid of 20.00 and got this lot:

Then I promptly gave the book to the woman who wanted it.

In the bag were oddments of wool, silk, mohair and acrylic blends. And one mystery content yarn that I am knitting up a swatch to right now that I will throw in the washer and see what comes of it. If it felts, I'm going to make a felted purse with it. If not, then I will make socks. Either way I WIN!

And 20.00 for this much yarn is just plain crazy good!

In other news, I had a brain storm this morning. I got to wondering if my email provider was blocking DD notifies, so I switched my account to another email address I have and lo and behold, I got a notify. Bookworm, you were the first to show up! So I think I am back in the running. Since my lack of notifies showed up at the same time DD was having the hiccups, I assumed it was DD, when in fact it was my own IP. DOH!

So hopefully, I will now be back in touch properly with everyone.

Whew!

    Yeah! I had to do the same thing recently with another place I get notifies from, too. I switched to my gmail account instead. ;-)

    Twenty bucks for all that?! That's *really* coming up roses!

    So how did you figure out why you weren't getting notifies? I'm not sure I'm getting all of the people I usually read. Steve wrote and told me that att.net was blocking him (Kabarty, I think), but the problem is at least partially solved. Or maybe wholly, and I am getting everyone who's on my list. I dunno.
