I'm happy to report
that the garden
is coming along nicely.
There are pole beans,
tomatoes, broccoli, brussles sprouts
and peas planted.
Oh yes, and a zucchini.
It seems a bit early for
some of these plants.
But She Who Must Not Be Named
saw the plants at the nursery
and decided to try them
and see what happened.
I of course heartily approve of
this experiment.
The more plants,
the more harvest.
That's my motto!

I was going to show you a nice picture of a Narcissus that has just started blooming in our back yard. But yesterday I dropped my digital camera. It busted into pieces.
Its little motor that opens and closes the lens wouldn't stop running. [Ree, ree, ree, ree.....] I had to take out the batteries and put it out of its misery. It was a sad moment. Oh yeah, the viewfinder fell off too.

It's ruint.

Sigh.

I took a lot of nice pictures with that camera, even if it was kind old and clunky.

[Olympus Camedia]

I have been given two digital cameras. Have never bought one of my own. I guess it's my turn to pony up with the dough. So I can hardly complain. Though I must admit to feeling a little funny not having a working digital camera around. I take pictures virtually every day. So I may hie me off to Wal-Mart tomorrow and check out the offerings.

I'm hoping to keep it under 100.00 for sure. I just need a nice basic camera that also does close ups. Nothing fancy. Don't want. Want simple and easy to use. With a no brainer interface with the computer. My old camera had a memory card that slid into my computer. But a usb cable is just as good I suppose.

Anybody have a recommendation with the above limitations?

I just did some research on the internets and came back dazed and confused about what to get.... too many choices. My usual complaint.

Anyway if you know of something good in the digital camera department,
I'm all ears.

(And all thumbs too apparently.)

I really love my Samsung Digimax S500. It's easy to use and has a very good size viewing screen for such a small camera. It uses a card OR a USB cable AND it also takes videos. I paid something in the neighborhood of $175.00 for it a couple of years ago so I'm assuming that the price has probably come down by now.

Good luck with the veggies! It'll be safe to plant here around mother's day and I intend to get a little jump on that if at all possible.

When I was in Washington visiting Megan, I bought a digital camera, and I'm sure it was no more than $100. The brand name seems to be Digital Concepts. It comes with a card and reader, and also a USB cable. It has another USB cable with directions for download photos.

It came well equipped. It has a cord to attach to the camera so don't drop it, and a cord to attach to the big case that carries all the stuff. There's small tripod, too. There's a small case for the camera with a pocket inside to carry the memory card (if it isn't in the camera).

I note also that I have a pair of earplugs. Oh, I think you gave them to me last year when we were watching the Thunderbirds.

It's a good camera. I hope you find one that satisfies you and doesn't cost a bundle.

    Bless

My only recommendation would be a smaller camera to tuck in your purse easily. I bought a nice big Kodak with fancy zoom lens a few years ago; love the camera but have a hard time carrying it with me. It's big. But I love it.

Once again I'm jealous, 'cause you get to plant before me. *sigh*
But I do love where I live, so there is that.
    Good luck on camera hunting.

Have you actually considered finding a camcorder that also takes stills? Imagine the possibilities!

The Kodak camera's are easy to use with easy software. They have lots of varieties too. Plus you can get a little charging base to put it on, and the base stays plugged into the computer, so you just set it on the base and press a button and walah! pictures on the computer AND the camera is fully charged. I love mine!
