What Happens When I Am Left To My Own Devices
Sun Mar 15 2009

So if you give me enough time to decompress from everyday chores and responsibilities... Throw in a lack of human contact... Add the knowledge that this environment will go on for a few more days...  this is what happens:

I have wanted to try making a Dorodango for quite some time. Now seemed like an auspicious occasion, so I embarked....  Read about them here:

I apologize for the non-hypered link, but I can't get them to work right now.
Copy and paste at will....

This is my attempt in progress:

It is not ready for the polishing phase just yet. I'm letting it dry out a little bit.
I do not expect to get it as shiny as the ones on the web site, but I'm giving it my best shot.

While I was waiting for my dorodango to temper in its plastic bag in the fridge I went surfing for how to draw a mandala because I have been reading this woman's blog and she makes them all the time. I didn't really like the style of hers but I liked the IDEA of them. So I set out to find some alternatives and finally found this....

Scroll down to the YouTube video and watch it. It's mesmerizing.

After seeing the video, I then looked up Zentangles on Google Images and decided this was right up my alley.

I put on some music, got out my pens and paper and set to. This is what I made.... I stayed up WAY past my bedtime.

Time stood still. My favorite place to be. In the NOW.  This was a very satisfying thing to do. Even if you think you suck at art, you can to this. I am sure of it.
I chose a theme for my Zentagle/ Zendala. I needed some kind of direction, rather than the more random nature of a lot of the ones I looked at on line.

Points to anyone who guesses what it is.

Excuse me now, I have to go play with my mud ball.

Go forth.

Create.

Live in the NOW!

About the links not working. Mine haven't for some time. After I hit 'the button' I have to go back and hit modify. When the entry comes back up, the link is there and active so I just hit 'the button' again. Give it a try, might work for you!

    Zentagle/ Zendala- heh heh!

    Very pretty! - and interesting.

It would be pretty to somehow frame and hang somewhere in the house...

Fascinating! Utterly fascinating the Zendala. I've done Mandalas using the traditional methods. The Zendala seems to encourage freedom of expression. Sort of.

Now. How do you polish a mud ball? The links don't say anything about the HowTo...but show only the finished product. When will we see yours?

Maybe Hub Man needs to leave you to your own devices more often.

    Bless

My GUESS is that it is Genesis...a pictorial discourse, poem, discription, etc. of the creation of Earth. It's beautiful, whatever it is.

    *A River Runs Thru It*

That is very cool. You should frame it.
