I'm bemused this morning.

Yesterday I got this in the mail...

and have been listening to it non-stop ever since. Have a listen to the samples. I think you will like it. Well, maybe you will, what do I know? Me? I'm transfixed.

I taked a picture in the garden!
Look, look!
See my pretty flower!

Hey, that's pretty good. What camera are you using?

Yours.

(DOH!)

Ahem. I'll get you a disposable today that you can play with okay?

Why? I like yours.

(Kids these days, eh? You gotta love 'em.)

In other garden news, this morning I dug up half the potatoes. Why half? Well for one thing they did exceptionally well and I ended up with 15 pounds from four plants and it will take a while to eat them up. And for another I found out that right next to the potatoes underneath the crookneck squash is a yellow jacket nest.
Isn't that special? I sprayed it with bug killer and am avoiding the area. It was pretty early when I was digging, so they were not all that active yet. I'll have to deal with them later when the sun goes down.

Here are the potatoes in their native habitat:

I also picked enough tomatoes today to make fresh tomato soup. I've been waiting and waiting. 'To the patient goes the soup'.

(That doesn't sound much like a memorable quote to me.)

It's the best I can do right now. I have my hands full. Want to give a dog a bath or something useful?)

(No, no. I'll just be in the hen house keeping Red company. She is hiding out from the yellow jackets. She's allergic.)

(Carry on.)

Sigh.

I must say that Little Miss Happiness is pretty sharp with the camera. I do love sunflowers. They're right there next to daffodils.

Fifteen pounds of spuds. That's a pretty good haul from a backyard garden. But yellow jackets? Nah. Just be careful. Their sting is powerfully painful. That's from my own experience.

Best way of dealing to bug nasties I ever came acorss, especially anything of the flying kind is top pour boiling hot water on them. Works a treat on weeds too and much more friendly to the world i general than any chemical. Just a thought.

That is a pretty flower. Good job Sunshine.

And such a lovely harvest. I'm envious.

Oh,and the best method for getting rid of yellow jackets without getting stung....... hide in the house and send your husband out to deal with it. It works every time. :)
