Frozen Garden

We are having a real wintery snow storm here. Last night I heard an ominous sound in the darkness. I had an idea what had happened, I was just hoping it didn't involve any buildings or vehicles. Thank goodness it didn't. [Click the picture to make it bigger.]   The walnut tree lost a big branch. And it missed the garden fence. Garden? Yep. Mr. P says this garden space is mine to use. The fence is to keep the deer from chomping everything to the ground.  :-)       There are lots of weeds to pull along the inside of the fencing, but the center part is in pretty good shape. I'm going to have to pace myself. I can tell. The shovel and I are going to become intimately acquainted before all is said and done. Though this is hardly the time of year to be thinking of such things. But gardeners have this … thing… about planning ahead. Speaking of which… where's my seed catalog? I hate to say it, but even *I* think it's a little early to be worried about gardening. Perhaps. I think lima beans this year. And peas. And rutabagas. And parsnips. And of course…. potatoes. (Oh Lord.)

Never too early to plan a garden in my book. I was thinking about ordering a new seed catalog myself. Something about winter and garden planning. Makes one hopeful for Spring, don't cha think?

You've only jumped the gun on garden planning by a week or so. Everyone knows January is the best time to start dreaming and planning. :)
