Goodbye Charlie

Ummm.
Ahhh...
I can see I am in the diary entry window here...
What am I doing here?
Oh yeah. Updating my diary!
I went to the dentist because I had a sore swollen gum. They took a nice picture of my tooth and the surrounding area..... And declared it dead as a doornail. And a no go for a root canal. We bid farewell to my #15 tooth. I named him Charlie, feeling that anyone who was about to be removed from the land of the living deserved a name. Thus bringing me to the place where I could utter 'Goodbye Charlie' and actaully have it mean something.
Said dentist had my tooth out in a trice. I didn't feel a thing. But I did end up with a mild case of the shakes afterwards and spent a few minutes laying down on the couch in the waiting room.
I will miss Charlie.... but not that much. He was being a real pain for the last year anyway. This is my first tooth loss since wisdom teeth way back in ancient history so I must say I am a little gobsmacked.
And unlike Hub Man, I got to keep my tooth.
No, I won't show it to you, that is just too gross. But the thing is way bigger than I ever imagined a tooth would be. Teeth are kinda like icebergs.
You will have to excuse me now.
I think the novocaine is starting to wear off.
[Besides it's probably not novocaine any more is it zylocaine? Never matter, I am thankful to God for the stuff.]
Well, that's about it.
Or as close to 'it' as you are going to get out of me today.

I'm sorry about Charlie. Having recently evicted Sven, I know what you're going through.
That brings me to the part about getting to keep the tooth. When I was ummmm 16??? I think I was 16 when I had my wisdom teeth out???? Yeah, sounds about right. Anyway, the oral surgeon gave them to me in a nice little box. It was rather charming except for the fact that they didn't rinse the blood off of them. Being an evil person, and needing to take a note to the high school anyway, I marched right into Mr. Magruder's history class with my pretty little box, announced to said teacher that I had to give something to Jeni J (my best friend), handed her the box and told her not to open it until I was out the door. One could hear the squeals for miles around *giggles*.
I hope you feel better soon. Take lots of Advil and relax. Soup would be good, too!

You were such a good girl today. I was proud of you. Did you get your sticker before you left the office? NO? Well...we will have to remedy that when you come in for your cleaning.
Hope you have very little or no pain.
Great to see you again. Luv ya...Parett

I've had and lost my own Charlie in the past. It's amazing how quickly you can forget they were ever there.
