Here's the view from the front porch this morning...
Lovely.
And what makes it even more delightful is that when it's doing this down by us, up on the mountain it's probably really coming down. What a blessing!
Earlier in the week, when it was raining and stormy, I warped the new loom for the second time.
I'm still learning about yardage and trying to figure out just how far certain amounts of yarn will go. I had the little loom pretty dialed in. But this is all new in many ways.
I was given some cotton and linen yarn by my sister in law and I'm practicing with some of the partial skeins first. So this was warped with several smallish amounts in a rather random way. It took much longer than my usual 40 minutes with the little loom.
I decided to take pictures to remind me where I put my 'warping peg' AKA kitchen chair, to see how many towels this length of warp will make. I sure could use a weaving mentor right now to calm my nerves.
I eventually got it squared away...
All tidy and in order.
Thankfully, the weaving goes very quickly once all the prep work is done.
I meant to report that my old camera is still in operation as of this writing.
It decided to rejoin the land of the living. But I'm still researching my options for a replacement. I didn't get any recommendations from the photographer I consulted. He sent me back to the internet to read up on cameras. He told me what camera he owned and when I looked it up, found out that it is so far out of my price range that it rather took my breath away. I would like to keep my expenditure in the THREE figure ball park thank you very much!
Though I have narrowed it down to two or three candidates.
I'm going to miss the simplicity of my point and shoot, but I think I'm ready to get a little more serious with my photography again.
But it's gonna cost me.
:-)
Hope it turns out to be worth it.
In the meantime...
Let. It. Snow!
