"Would someone please tell me where I am? This is NOT the computer I am used to. This one is moving too fast, and making me dizzy. How am I supposed to think profound thoughts under these conditions?"

You didn't say what you got. I got 450 - 500 words per minute, but I haven't finished the book--yet. I just haven't read it straight through, just a little here and there. Too bad I can't eat through my law homework this fast!

750-800 on the first 3-minute; 850-900 on the 2nd 3-minute.
But not nearly that fast when I'm reading for content (Kaballah, for instance) and taking notes, of course.
Still no http:// on your diary. How long does it take Steve to fix things?

No, I didn't notify Steve. I thought the owner of the diary was supposed to do that. I will, though.

RYC: eeewwwww I had not thought of that. I wonder what I would find growing in mine? Me thinks it may be time to put the old dinosaur out of its misery and get a new one. Do they make quieter ones?
107! I feel like a pitiful whiner now.

How fast I read depends on what I am reading. For this test your link leads to, I averaged 750-800 WPM for the story, and 400-450 WPM for Kennedy's address.
I didn't have the opportunity to read the Half Blood Prince in one sitting, so I've no idea how long it took to read. When the Order of the Phoenix came out, I read it in one sitting and it took about 8 hours or so.
Now, when I try to read one of my math or computer books, I average about 30-40 WPM. I can't read those fast at all, and hope to have any recollection or comprehension of the material.

I forgot to ask, where are the 2 and 3 minute tests?

The problem I had was that I was finished with the text before the minute was up, and couldn't find how to advance it to get to more text so I could read past "He helped his tenant with seeds and slips and sound advice..."

650-700 which isn't so bad I guess. And I couldn't find the 3 minute test either?
I'm really glad you got your new computer working; I think I'm jealous, I'm having all kinds of problems with mine.

pfft. The test came out so fast I know something went wrong. I'm not a particularly fast reader! Think I'll take it again tomorrow, and maybe use IE instead of Firefox.
But it was great reading Kennedy's inauguration address!
