The Stark And Naked Truth Of It
Wed Jan 07 2009

I was hoping for a sunny afternoon to take some pictures of the yard, but the weather is not cooperating. So I had to take them in the gloomy....

My poor yard is in a sorry state.

I cannot tell a lie.

Here's what's doin' back there right now....
Blackberry vines choked by Bermuda grass:

Dormant grass:

A pear tree needing a home in the ground and two dogs pretending they don't know they should be digging a hole for it...

How alarmingly dead Hydrangias look in the winter:

The side yard that needs some TLC:

And finally, here's a spot with a few new plants, but that has to be protected from a certain pair of dogs who from time to time play a really hard core game of chase through the flower beds....

I found out from consulting the expert gardener at the nursery that my peach problem last year may have been a simple case of overwatering. He said, besides the other symptoms I described, the fact that the peaches didn't want to ripen seemed to indicate too much water. Boy do I hope he is right. This is a pretty simple thing to fix!

Anyway, I wanted to have a bench mark of the state of my yard. In the coming weeks I am going to be moving some plants around, cleaning up weeds and adding some ground covers and what not. My most challenging thing is to not take on too much at once. Oh yeah, and a little sunshine wouldn't hurt either...

(Well just order up your weather there Cupcake, and we'll get right on it....
Sheesh...)

(Wait a minute. Who the heck is this?)

Did somebody call me?

I'm Little Miss Sunshine.
And I just KNOW
that the sun will come out tomorrow.
You wait and see.

(Good Lord. That's all we need around here. A frickin' Pollyanna.)

Glommy you say !!! well cheer up as it rained /Snowed/ and some sleet here today. I have just let winter take over as back yard woods is a mess of leaves and small limbs from storms and flat too cold to tackle.

Is that a photo of little Yetzirah? What a cutie! I'm sure my yard looks about the same under about 4 ft of snow!

Of course there'll be sunshine tomorrow. If it doesn't rain.

Winter yards are pretty sad looking, I have to admit. But come spring your yard will be all blooming and green. The hydrangeas will be glorious. The blackberry vines will be full of fruit. The peaches will ripen in the summer, and lo and behold the pear tree will be flourishing in its very own hole. Filled in hole, that is.

Oh, yes, and the side yard will be all neat and flourishing too.

Green thumbs up to her elbows is our Yetzirah.

    Bless

What a great way to deal with (). I don't suppose he sees the humor in it though.

Now all she needs is a song. I recommend full volume for the greatest impact. ;)

    Let the sunshine,
    Let the sunshine in
    Let the sun shine in.
