My best friend S. has been away from home for family reasons for many, many weeks. To say this puts me in a funk would be an understatement. But contrary to ()'s opinion, it's not always about ME.
(You got that right Cupcake.)
Anyway, she came home for ONE day today for various and sundry necessary reasons and I got to clap eyes on her. This has done me no end of good.
As a matter of fact, I got to help her with one of the things she wanted to do today. We planted trees that she had sprouting in buckets of water into pots. She works at a tree farm and wanted to give them these unusual trees from cuttings of one she has in her yard.
It was fun, and I got to spend time with her, without monopolizing her limited number of hours.
(Or following her around like a puppy.)
Yes, yes. You don't need to rub it in.
(Oh yes I do, it's my JOB.)
You're fired.
(You can't fire me. We're a package deal.)
I forgot. Never mind.
Here are the trees we delivered to the tree farm.
Please excuse the horrifically over processed photo. I had to make several adjustments to my camera settings this afternoon to tone down this crazy idea that the iPhone seems to think is attractive...

I couldn't go back and retake this after the adjustments Grok helped me figure out.
While we were potting these Curly Willows, in one of the bags of soil we were using, was an odd thing. She said, I wonder if that still writes? I grabbed it and claimed it as my wages for helping.
Leading me to being able to make the following ridiculous t-shirt worthy statement...

I helped plant 50 Curly Willow Trees, and all I got was this lousy Sharpie.
(Oh Lord. That was a really long story for that kind of corny punch line. Puullleeesse!)
Yeah well, we take our laughs where we can get them here in the boonies when we are separated from our best friends for too long.
And just in case you were wondering S., it writes for crap. It's going in the trash now that it has been immortalized here on Dear Diary!
🤣
P.S. Please note the much more pleasing second photo after changing no less than 5 settings that the iPhone co-opted in the latest iOS update.
