Politics Almost Rhymes With Horse Sh...
Thu Jan 10 2008

I wrote an entry yesterday.
But then DD had a hiccup when I was trying to post it, so it got lost.
This is really not much of a tragedy because the entry was drivel anyway.

Drizzly today. I hope it clears up some later in the day. I wanted to go out and clean up the front yard. There are debris of various kinds that the wind blew upon our shores last week. Including broken willow branches from our tree, paper cups, food containers, and whatnots from other people's garbage as the day that it was blowing a gale happened to be garbage day, and well, just use your imagination.

The birds wasted no time finding the bird feeder on the front porch. But I am beginning to question my decision as the place is now strewn with hulls and bird doo doo. The thing may have to go back to its original spot for sanitary reasons.

This morning I was listening to the radio and yet another pair of pundits were re-re-re-re-re-RE-hashing the election 'situation' of the moment... and this wave of gloom swept over me. I realized that this is going to go on for another ten months.

TEN MONTHS.

More than 300 days of endless speculations, shocking revelations, setbacks, comebacks, uncertain outcomes, dramas, rebounds, regrouping, new strategies, old saws, soundbites, dirty tricks, bad form, sneaky tactics , backroom deals, lies, liars, and damn liars. . . .

OMG. I don't think I can take it. I'm sick to death of it and we haven't even picked the two.... [oh I forgot, there will be more], candidates yet! We have not yet gotten into the vice president slots yet have we?

Who's idea was it for people to start 'running' for president two full years before the freakin' election? I want him in my office, and I want to see some heads roll. Don't these people understand that we are going to be SO sick of them before this is over that we might write in 'Mr. Bean' for president rather than play this stupid game any longer?

Oh, don't get your panties in a wad. I'm going to vote. I'm a good citizen. And yes I care about who is going to be leading our country, and yes it matters. But I don't believe it matters in the way some people in politics think that it matters.

And one last thing [for today anyway]... there are certain aspects of this particular election that have a tinge of 'American Idol' wafting around them. Too much emphasis is being placed on emotions, stupid little quirky sound bites that are given way too much gravitas, and personal appearance. We are not voting for homecoming king or queen here people. This isn't high school any more.

(Wait a minute, I thought you just said this political stuff didn't matter that much.)

Don't take me out of context you snarky little set of, of,... "standardized marks or signs in written matter to clarify the meaning and separate structural units"

And you can quote me on that.

(I have a feeling it's going to be a long campaign.)

This entry is why I love reading you so much! :)
The problem is there are crazy people like me who wait every four years to get down and dirty and feed our addiction to this kind of insane madness lol. It's like wrestling without the mat lol.
I will be a complete junkie until November and then I will crash like a crack head in rehab :)
So order the pizzas, make the popcorn, fix the sandwiches and sausage balls, and full speed ahead! Hugs, Richard

This is the time where I choose one day a week to watch the news, and only plan to watch political debates. Other than that I avoid television and radio political broadcasts. I search for info on the candidates on the internet, and compare them there rather than put up with the commercials bashing each other. All regularly watched shows get taped and watched at a later time so I can FF through all the drivel.

I don't even watch the news.

Wouldn't it be nice to go on a retreat? No phones. No TV. Only music on the radio.

This frustration is exactly why I don't watch, listen or read about the election until we get down to the last ballot.
    Saves some sanity.
    But that's just me.

I'm torn between wanting to watch so I'll be informed and being miserable, watching, because I'm informed. It's a no-win situation.

Is it just me or does that pattern look mighty familiar?

RYN: Lightning was 7lbs when we got him, probably over 12lbs now. But not overweight per se, just a big boy. Regular meal will do that to you. Don't I know.

Oh, bless your heart..... and all your other vital organs; Quilty could not have expressed it better!

A word of advice though...... turn off the radio and put on your favorite music CD. Remember, every catapillar knows when to build a cocoon as there is no surviving the harshness of winter without one. I believe they have the right idea.

Please pass the cotton..... I can still hear Hillary and she is disturbing my beauty sleep.

Taxes have been on our minds since last week when we found out we can deduct sales tax this year. We had some pretty high ticket purchases last year, so we're really excited about that!
