I've spent the morning cleaning and organizing some files on my computer, and going through papers that have been growing in stacks around the house. I copied all my latest photos onto a flash drive and deleted an enormous amount of total nonsense from my personal folder on my computer desktop.
I am appalled at the amount of stuff one can gather up in a few month's time. Some of it is very important.... [pictures of Cricket and Sunny smiling up at me] and some of it is just crap. The shredder has been busy this morning. The virtual one and the real one.
I think I feel better. But I'm not sure. It's going to take a while for the effects of sorting through all this information to wear off. I'll get back to you on that one. Right now my right eye is twitching from the whole ordeal.
I think I need to do some decompressing on many levels. Call in 'frazzled' from work.
Only thing is, my work is my home. How can you take a day off from your house? It is a mixed blessing to have your workplace also be your sanctuary. I can see why people build those little houses in their back yard where they go to .... meditate, read, or do crafts. Sometimes you just have to get out of sight of the dirty dishes.
I know what the hen would have to say about that... the little slave driver.
I baked my first batch of date pinwheel cookies yesterday. I highly recommend them to you. They were so good, that one is enough. It would feel mildly immoral to eat two at one sitting they were so good. Not to be wolfed down.
Okay, here's the recipe. From the Pillsbury Best Cookie Book:
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1/4 t. salt
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1 1/2 cups flour
Mix it up and put in the fridge for an hour.
3/4 cup finely chopped dates
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
Bring this to a boil and then simmer on low for 5 min.
Stir in 2 T. finely chopped nuts
Let cool for 15 min.
Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling on it and roll up like cinnamon roll. Cut this in half and wrap the two logs in wax paper and refrigerate 2 hours.
(Don't skip this part)
Slice and bake them in a 375 oven for 9 to 10 minutes.
I got three dozen cookies from this recipe.
Hub Man who is not a real fan of dates, declared these quite edible.
I declare them awesome.
