Half Normal, Half Ripe, Half Wiseacre
Thu Jun 12 2008

Things seem to be about half normal around here in DD land.

And half normal is WAY better than 'Sorry We Never Heard Of DD Land' messages on the computer screen. Boy those things gave me the willies.

I am watching my first tomato change color in the garden. They do look so odd when they are starting to ripen. I read somewhere that you should leave the first ripe tomato on the vine because it encourages the others to get ripe. Anyone think that sounds like hooey?  Maybe it exudes some sort of chemicals and they spread to the rest of the tomatoes. I don't know. But I was thinking about giving it a try.

(Ever the budding scientist....)

Wow, that almost sounded like a compliment.

I guess ( ) is only half cranky right now.  I imagine he will be up to speed soon and go into full on wiseacre mode about the time DD is humming along in its normal way...

I can hardly wait?

I know that there have been studies on tomato production involving the color red and it is believed that the color red around the plants increases production. Leaving the first tomato on the vine may have something to do with that.

I'm a little jealous. My tomatoes have a few blooms (not the ones I planted, just the ones I bought) but no tomatoes yet.

Me, too! It was scary, not being able to access DD at all, and for so long. I've got you on my GoogleReader, and just saw you'd posted, and thought , "Look! Yetzirah's here! Maybe DD is back?" Yes, yes, yes!

You have tomatoes ripening? Man, we haven't had enough sun to properly grow even the vines here. But today is beautiful, and gloriously sunny. Maybe there'll be a summer, after all.

    Hugs,
