The weather people are hysterical.
I find myself unmoved.
Too many times, they have cried wolf. Now if I lived in the Sierra Nevada mountains, I might go get some milk and eggs at the store today. But here? It is sprinkling. The sun was out an hour ago. I am not alarmed.
I am amusing myself with the fairy garden today. I found a couple of little chotchkes at Dollar General in the (\[way too early, what are they thinking] newly stocked garden aisle.

A little bird bath!
Though it is not at the correct scale to the other things, it actually holds water and I love it. I also found a little metal wheelbarrow.

I removed some of the moss from the middle of the area. It was not happy there. I still have no idea if any of the moss will actually 'take'. Time will tell. I'm trying not to get too emotionally invested in it.
While out for a walk yesterday, I came upon a small pile of wood that Mr. P had cut up from a fallen oak limb out in the field. I spied some pieces that were worth gathering for firewood.
About this time of the year, I always get a little insecure about how much firewood I have left and will it last till the cold weather is over??So it seemed a worthy endeavor to go get the garden cart and haul some of it up to the house.
There was one piece that turned out to be pretty amusing that I didn't even notice when I was pulling it out of the jumbled pile. But when I brought it in this afternoon.... well.... I had to take a picture.

We take our amusements where we can around here in the dead of winter...
(Looks like about a size four.)
I think you are right. 🥾🤣

No, you are right. The Sierra Nevada mountains are as you describe. I just don't live THERE, I live much farther north. Our mountains are not that high, nor are they situated like a funnel for the storms. And yes, the Sierras usually get TONS of snow!
