Sound Your Ultra Fantastic
Mon May 23 2005

Oh I'm rather fidgity today.

Anybody ever had an ultrasound?

It will be new to me.

Back in the olden days when I was having babies, they only did them if they had some pressing question about the baby or babies as the case may have been. So I managed to slide right by this bit of technology during my childbearing years.

But now, the doctor wants to get a picture of my lovely fibroids.... and just how large and obtrusive ARE they anyway?

The preparation for the test seems begnign enough. Drink a quart of water, a couple of hours beforehand and do not visit the loo till after the test. I think I can do that.
Or it seems doable 30 minutes before I am to start imbibing said H2O.

I am trying to stay calm. I did almost an hour's worth of yoga this morning. Hoping to arrive at the facilities in a Zen like state. When in fact there is a primal part of me that is gibbering in a nervous fit of some sort. I don't open that door, no matter how odd the noises get that are coming from inside.

I am sure it will all be just no big deal. But I can't be SURE of that you see until quarter past 12 noon today when the whole thing will most likely be over.

My body is calm and still, except for my toes which are wriggling in the most erratic way. I think they are itching to make a run for it. Though where they would take me, I cannot say.

Enough....

The worst part is the full bladder ...I myself never drink as much as they tell me too ..or else I would literally wet myself ...
The ultrasound itself is fast and painless ..a piece of cake darling . I have those nasty fibroids AND some ovarian cysts to boot and get scanned every 6 months ..its a good thing to know what the little blighters are up to ..lol
My big surgery tomorrow too ..nervous also ..
    Good luck .
    Love

oh my, never had an ultrasound and i'm not really sure i ever want to, especially since it involves drinking all that water when my internal plumbing system responds at such a rapid rate...

Dropped in b/c Yetzirah is such a cool name.

So, after reading the entry, I must know how you keep that door closed. The one with the gibbering noises from that primal part of your anxious self. I simply must know how to keep that door shut tight!

I trust you made it through the ultrasound... I had one but didn't have to drink anything for mine. I recently had a CT Scan of my kidneys, however, and though I still didn't have to drink anything I had iodine in an IV that was most unpleasant! Hope the fibroids aren't too big or badly behaved.

Keep writing. I'll have to rememebr to come back when I have more time to visit!

I have had several ultra sound tests
They are painless and interesting. It is when they use ultra sound photography to guide a procedure like biopsy or something that your toes need to get in shape.. You are okay...
    I Promise!!
But write when you are done ~ Wonder what they are looking for.. or plan to do with info on fibroids..
    I have fibroid trouble too!

When I was preggers with the twins, I had ultrasounds weekly from 20 weeks until they popped out of me. I got to the point where I could've slept through them if the gel wasn't so cold!
As was noted in a previous comment, the full bladder is the most difficlut part.
