In The ZONE !
Sat Nov 01 2003

I have been writing all day. Not on the novel. That wouldn't be kosher. I can't acutally start writing mine till after Shabbat is over tomorrow evening. I have been "warming up" with another story. And in about 3 hours I did turn out 3,000 words. So it CAN be done! I needed to know that :-)

BUT then I spent the rest of the day editing. I was in THE ZONE all day. I have never had quite such a writing experience. I have a totally free day today as hubby is out of town. ( I will have to face the Trick or Treaters alone this year)

Anyway, I feel like it's a doable thing, writing a novel in a month.
This was not my mood this morning however.

On the way to the airport (at 4:30am no less) I scribbled this in the dark in my little notebook I keep in my purse. . . .

NaNo Blues

My plot has major problems,
My characters are weak.
If I don’t find an ending soon,
I think I’m gonna freak.

My aliens are cheesy,
When they talk they sound like Mork.
If anybody reads this,
They will think that I’m a dork.

I cannot write good dialog,
My villains sound like jerks.
The warp fields need re-configured,
And that transporter never works.

But I am persevering,
I don’t want to be a shmo.
I want that piece of paper,
That says I finished NaNoWriMo!

Not bad for 4:30 in the morning....

And great news. It's RAINING here. Real honest to goodness rain. What a lovely day it has been. I even turned the gas fireplace on and plan to toast my toes here pretty soon, if I can just get away from this computer for a few minutes!

Hey, that's just great. It's a real buzz when you get a chance to do that. Your poem made me laugh. ;-)

Congrats!! I have finally decided to enjoy nanowrimo through you and bookworm. Ironically I came up with an idea on how to approach a novel that's been brewing in my head today...but I think I shall just let myself write it instead of joining the frenzied pace of nano. Perhaps I'll join you next year.
