Spring is having a summer fling....
Somewhere ELSE entirely.
She is neglecting this corner of the world most shamefully in my humble opinion.
I have to look through my Pollyanna glasses to catch any sign that she WILL eventually show up. And it's a full time job let me tell you.
My shelling peas are up...
And the fava beans finally popped up.
Please admire the precision and accuracy of my rows!
(Really?)
You ever hear of the word 'sarcasm'? Look it up.
I've never grown them before. But I DID eat some fresh from a friend's garden last year and fell in LOVE with them. Be prepared, they are quite the odd plant. Wait till you see them later on. . .
The one place in the garden where an executive decision was made, most likely during the dead of night during the most recent snow, is in the little pot of violas left over from last year. They got together and decided they aren't waiting around for any seasonal divas to show up. THEY are the boss of them, seems to be the consensus. . .
In a restless moment yesterday, I took a walkabout around the fields and little meadow across the ice pond.
Here's a spot I am hoping to make into a summer 'camp'... I have yet to figure out my shelter construction.. but this is the spot...
I've trimmed the bushes and a tree up to make room for whatever evolves. I can tell you it will probably be pretty fragile, quirky, makeshift and girly.
(Hey, that pretty much sums you up Cupcake!)
Anyway... here's a photo from the east field where Sunny and I puttered around looking for the recalcitrant, AWOL, and otherwise delinquent change of season....
For now we will have to be content with independent minded violas and greening grasses.
But when she finally DOES show up, I'm going to give that little vixen a piece of my mind. Make no mistake about it.
(I know you... as soon as the first sweet pea blooms, all that indignation will pop right out of your head and you will forgive all.)
We'll see. . .
(Yes we most certainly will....)
