Spruced Bruce

I went a little crazy today in the housecleaning department.
Rugs got washed, corners vacuumed, carpets de-dog haired, floors mopped, surfaces dusted, and clutter banished.
It all started here ...
Oh, it looks innocent enough AFTERWARDS, but the woodbox area WAS a total disaster.
Wood bark, wood chips, and wood dust, had crept into everything surrounding our Bruce.
It's warm enough today that I could let the fire go out, so I haven't touched the wood yet. As soon as I do, there will be…. detritus everywhere again. But for the moment, it's pristine. I decided to take a picture of it to remember my hard work.
Though if I have to choose between tidy or warm, I'll take warm every time.
Besides, at a certain point one just has to accept the cold hard fact that life is just….. messy.
(Don't we know it.)
Indubitably.

My hearth area is alway a mess so I keep a work bench brush by the wood bin and use the little ash shovel as a dust pan for quick clean-ups as needed....does a better job than the broom most of the time. :)
