Sprouting Bunny Tails
Mon Feb 16 2004

I have been pondering what to put on the diary today.

It's a case of "Can you top this?" for me after yesterday. :-)

And the answer is nope, I can't top that.

So instead of writing, I have been puttering about the house, cleaning up a bit and doing laundry. Then in the afternoon, I went out and planted a "Fairy Primrose" and a Lavender plant, along with a small Rosemary start for the front yard.

Lo and behold, this morning, the "Bunny Tail" grass sprouted, so I put them in larger pots to grow some more. I start seeds in things called "peat pellets" which are flat disks of peat that you soften in water and they swell up and you can start seeds in them. But they are only about an inch and a half high, so the plant runs out of room real quick and you have roots poking out the bottoms. So I try to either plant them outdoors or get them in a bigger pot quick like. But the pellets are good for the first sprouting as they are small and I can fit a huge bunch of them in the flat by the window. And the ones that don't sprout a seed, get a new one planted in it until they are all used up. Works for me!

Well, Lord of the Rings awaits me, and I think I am ready for it too. I am in the middle of the council with Elrond. Big doings!

I forgot to mention but I bought some sweet pea seeds Friday at the store. It will be my second attempt but I'm all optimistic. I may yell out for pointers.

Thanks for the reminder that it is time to start seeds indoors. I must put that on my "to do" list for this week!
