Bugging Out

Unbelievable as it may sound, I am headed for the hills once more.

A visit from one son and his wife to the parental unit homestead prompts this trip. I don't want to miss out since said son and spouse live 650 miles from here. It's nice to be able meet in the middle.

Hub Man has work commitments this weekend, so I would have been at loose ends anyway, so what the heck. . .

I'm taking along some volunteer thornless blackberry vines to see how they might do in my parent's place. If they can keep the deer away from them, they should do fine.
These plants have been growing in an awkward place in the garden for over a year and it's time for them to find a new home.

The peach tree looks so nice, I keep taking a moment to give it a look. Though I am paying for my ladder and bending over work on it yesterday. This morning I could not figure out why my back was so stiff and sore..... Short term memory problem. Duh! But it's a wholesome kind of sore, honestly come by, so I'm not complaining.

(Much.)

The writer's group met last night and we had fun reading each other's take on the assignment. Our task for next meeting is to write something from an interesting prompt. The leader brought a container full of fortune cookies. We chose one and are supposed to write something around that. Actually, my cookie had two fortunes, so I get to pick one or the other.

There are some talented people there and we are settling in, getting to know each other. I am enjoying it quite a lot.

I must away now and pack my stuff. I have not yet learned the art of travelling light.
I mean one has to take their blackberry plants with them don't you know!!! Anything less would just be uncivilized!

If you don't hear from me for a few days, you will know that I have gone native. But never fear, I shall return. Even Thoreau emerged from the wilderness by and by.

From Rabbi Nachman of Breslov:

"All beginnings require that you unlock new doors.
The key is giving and doing.
Give charity and do kindness."

are you sure the blackberry vines have volunteered or I guess you volunteered them

that is true when you do kind things the doors open I did a charitable thing a while back for a distant relative not expecting any returns for it and it strengthened the ties I had of family members close by that I had been neglecting

Joy! You'll have fun, and the blackberries will be considerate passengers.

And greetings to your parents.

Shalom

Have a wonderful time, and we'll see you when you get back (full of stories, yes?).

And I want to know what your fortune cookie said!

Hugs,
Ani
