Familiars

I am experiencing....

Canine overload today.

I am reminded of the times I had two year olds in the house. Going to the bathroom was a family affair, because a closed door between you and your toddler was tantamount to abandonment in their minds.

Last night, when Hub Man was home to take over the dog patrol for a while, I closed the door to our room and took a bath.... alone. By myself. Ahhhhh....

Then what did I hear?  The door opened.
He let Sunny in. I told Mr. Hub Man that I had come in here for a few moments of alone time, thank you very much... they retreated. And at least one tail was between legs during said regress.

Sigh.

Anyway, all day long there are dogs. Every time I get up to do something, they come with me.  Even if it is just for a drink of water, they need to know about it and supervise it. After all there might be something in the refrigerator for them too. Maybe, possibly, you never know. It's their main philosophy of life.

I think I'm going just a teensy bit whacko...

The song by The Police comes to mind...

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
Ill be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
Ill be watching you

Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
Ill be watching you

Since you've gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but its you I cant replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby, please...

    They do look hopeful.

I have a cat that has to escort me everywhere, and I mean EVERYwhere. If only she wouldn't get between my feet!!!!

    Bless

I remember that song from Police. Dogs are amazing animals. My cat is very watchful too. Hang in there because you are not crazy --- at least in my book you are not crazy. Thanks for sharing your thoughts of the day .... have a good rest of the week. I do enjoy reading your entries.

Fred's a follower, for sure. The other cats, not so much. The only time the others are even remotely interested is when they hear the an opener rattling, which is kind of weird when I think of it. Cat food hasn't come in the sort of can that requires an opener in years now. I have to show kitten that she won't like whatever is in the can every time I open one. Unless it's tuna, and then she wants the tuna water, and she would prefer not to share.

There are days when I feel like I might have to have the dogs surgically peeled off of the backs of my legs. At least the dogs and the cats have finally figured out that there's no secret door in the bathroom from which I can escape so they don't get hysterical any more, lol.

Years ago I had a cat named Budley who would stick a paw under the bathroom door and rattle the snot out of it so I finally gave up and just left the door open. That seemed to be Ginnafur's que to get in the shower with me and yowl at the tops of her little feline lungs. Dunno if she thought I was trying to drown myself and felt it was her duty to "save" me.

Welcome to my life - but I have cats who can't let me do a thing without being under foot and in the way! What would we do without them though.....:-)

    Heh.
The only time I can get all four cats that closely together is in the winter, when they fall asleep in front of the portable heater in the evening together. Even then they are careful not to touch each other, and usually maintain a discrete six inch personal zone from each other.
