Waterbalance
Thu Jul 10 2014

To escape the heat, Sunny and I went up to the creek this afternoon. I found my knitted leaf line dragging in the water, as our thunderstorm yesterday must have broken the line. I decided to fix it and just waded into the water, shoes and all. I could not believe how warm the water was. I can't remember that creek ever being that warm. It was weird. Now when I say warm, I'm not talking about tepid or anything, just not toe numbing as it usually is. Since I was already soaked, I worked balancing rocks right in the creek. It opened up lots of possibilities. Bal1   This one took a long time. I tried and rejected several rocks before I could get that orange one to balance. bal2   Bal3   Sometimes I just get attached to a certain rock and I WILL balance it, even if it takes half an hour. Which this one might have. I rested a while and found some new rocks to work with. Bal4   These were all about the roundness... Then I spied something in the water and fished it out… A long, sharp edged one. Bal5   Many attempts before success. The balances look different once the stones have dried off... Bal6   I figured it was time to head home, I had no idea what time it was by now. As I was wading by the first balance however, I saw something in the water. It needed to come out for a while... Bal7   I found a matching colored stone and finished it off.. bal8   I learn new things ever time I go there. I'll be sorry when the cold weather comes again. It's fun to be right in the water and work with the stones. I'll have to stay on the shore later on. But for now, I'll be amphibious.   lime-wild
